About Suzanne McIntyre

suzanne-mcintyre

I offer a compassionate and down to earth approach to exploring whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. I work collaboratively, supporting you to gain insight, so you can make more meaningful choices about what is important to you.

As an Accredited CBT Psychotherapist and Registered Person Centred Counsellor, I am able to offer a bespoke service for you, drawing on both psychological approaches when considering the most effective treatments for you.

I am able to utilise evidence based techniques and skills for a variety of mental health problems, whilst offering empathy, understanding and a safe space for individuals who are struggling to make sense of their current issues and what is troubling them, allowing them to be heard without judgement.

I understand every client is unique in both personality and needs, and my training enables me to work in a way best suited for each client’s individual requirements. This could be providing plenty of time and space for you to tell your story in the  first instance, placing greater or less emphasis on your childhood, using more or less structured thinking and diagrams or perhaps trying gentle but effective behavioural experiment depending on your preference throughout the therapeutic process.

I work in a supportive and open way, making sure your voice is heard and respected. In time you should be able to recognise that you have the potential to understand yourself and your needs, conflicts, anxieties, defences and relationship patterns on a much deeper level, enabling you to explore alternative ways of being and relating, to ultimately bring you a greater personal satisfaction and stability in your life moving forward.

Professional Standards

I attend monthly clinical supervision with a qualified supervisor in accordance with guidelines and requirements of the BABCP & BACP to maintained therapeutic standards of practice.

I hold an enhanced Criminal Bureau (DPS) disclosure certifying me as suitable for work with vulnerable adults and children.

As an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by their ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy work to both their code of ethics.
