Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychological treatment commonly used in the NHS for various emotional and psychological issues. Recognised by NICE, CBT works on the idea that people develop helpful and unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns over time, shaped by their upbringing, life experiences, and beliefs. It is a practical, goal-focused therapy that is most effective when addressing specific problems and finding ways to manage them.
Person Centred Therapy
Person-Centred Therapy holds that individuals are the best authority on their own experience and capable of personal growth. By seeking help, the client enters a therapeutic relationship with a non-judgemental, accepting therapist. This supportive environment enables the client to explore issues safely, leading to greater self-understanding and the potential to realise their full growth and development. The therapist facilitates, but the client leads the process.
